About Catherine

I had counselling myself when I was in my 30’s, and it really helped me.  This inspired me to retrain as a counsellor, so I studied for five years, gaining clinical experience and a Diploma in Integrative Psychodynamic Counselling from the internationally reputed training centre for psychotherapists, Metanoia Institute, in London. Integrative counsellors draw on the theories from across the many schools of psychotherapy, and are often drawn to this approach, because integration feels natural; we have a lot of personal experience of moving between cultures, and understand that there is more than one way to view life.

I also attend professional development workshops and conferences. Recent topics include our relationship with food (with Susie Orbach); eating disorders (with Julia Buckroyd); trauma and the body (with Bessel Van Der Kolk); LGBT sexuality; adolescents and risk; sibling relationships; infant development; autism and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

In addition to my private practice, I work for Riverside Counselling and The Space (for adolescents) in Henley on Thames. I am also a member of the Tai Chi Union of Great Britain, and teach tai chi for mental health in Henley for the charity Sport in Mind.
