About Catherine

In my late 30’s I was in a corporate career and having difficulties in my personal life. Therapy helped me so much I decided to retrain as a counsellor and then psychotherapist; I gained a Diploma in Integrative Psychodynamic Counselling and then, with further training, an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy from Metanoia Institute, in London. This training was rigorous: it included a wide range of contemporary theory, many hours of clinical practice and personal therapy, as well as a placement on a large psychiatric ward (Prospect Hospital in Reading).

I also have the Contemporary Institute of Clinical Sexology certificate in intimate partner relationship therapy, a certificate in couples counselling from Basingstoke Counselling Service, and have completed an externship in working with LGBTQ+ intimate relationships using Emotionally Focused Therapy.

I take a holistic approach to mental health and wellbeing; our bodies are just as affected as our minds by traumatic experience. This is why I am also training in somatic therapy with the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute. I have also taught qi gong, Chinese mindful movement, for Sport in Mind and Bucks Mind. It can calm our nervous systems, and help us feel stronger emotionally, as well as physically.
