About Catherine

In my late 30’s I was in a corporate career, having difficulties in my personal life and feeling quietly desperate. Therapy helped me so much I decided to retrain as a counsellor and then psychotherapist; I gained a Diploma in Integrative Psychodynamic Counselling and then, with further training, an MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy from Metanoia Institute, in London. This training was rigorous: it included a wide range of contemporary theory, many hours of clinical practice and personal therapy, as well as a placement on a large psychiatric ward (Prospect Hospital in Reading).

I also have the Contemporary Institute of Clinical Sexology certificate in intimate partner relationship therapy, a certificate in couples counselling from Basingstoke Counselling Service, and have completed an externship in working with LGBTQ+ intimate relationships using Emotionally Focused Therapy.

I have recently trained in body-based trauma therapy with the internationally respected Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute. Science is now confirming what we have known for a long time: that we hold implicit memory in our bodies - hence expressions like "get it off your chest", or "you're getting on my nerves"!

I take a holistic approach to my own health and wellbeing to support my ability to be present with clients; I am also well supported by regular clinical supervision.
